Timeshare has nothing to do with it. But I do understand your repeated reference to my profession, if only it helped your side of the argument. Very weak at best. Sales have been great by the way and will only get better as the island continues to grow. Thank you very much. $US75k take home isn't so bad is it? (without having to run a failing business)

Relatives or not, big business always influences politics, in almost every govermnet. Who do you think runs the US? San Pedro is just more visible as fewer players are involved.

My opinions about the island have nothing to do with the product I represent, they are not buying my ideals rather a small piece of the island.

They are impressed that I have my own opinion and are willing to voice it on this very small message board. (compared to the larger online communities)

Sin, i'ts too bad you can only give your opinion when you are hiding behind a phony name.
So in other words, you sell "them" a piece of the island "they" won't own? And "they" are impressed with you?
If you read all of your comments on this thread, you will see how you have contradicted yourself over and over.
Makes sense to me, give yourself a pat on the back.

The only thing we own forever is our burial plot. Do you have yours?

Funny thing,,,, Those who would PLAN CAN'T and those who can WON'T. Kinda remindes me of the politics in the U.S.... The last STATESMAN we had was Patrick Henry... Don't know if Belize has had any. But, Then, I'm just viewed as another outsider butting in again.

Well, it seems sometime between Friday night and Saturday, someone mysteriously cut down the mangroves on the proposed barge landing. Wonder why it was done in the middle of the night? Maybe there was no permit? Or, maybe rules are for foreigners? Its no surprise, apparentley if you are a local with money rules and regulations don't apply to you.
I wonder if the dredges have lights on them so that also will be done at night?

The problems the Island faces today are growing ever more complicated and will need "fresh blood" working with "old blood" to "Plan" ahead. With so many "eyes on" any coersion or use of power for personal gain or plain lack of planning will be very transparent. The lesson of the day is "Where did you find the money to do it right the second time?" or third for that matter?

Nature and the Peoples/Cultures are Belize. They should be protected. This jewel of an island can be kept nice only if all of us are responsible. Things are changing forever. Lets choose our solutions based on our collective knowledge, experience, and resources. Open mindedness is the key and combating personalities has nothing to do with that.

photo taken Sunday May 6.

It is apparent the back Marina IS usable. That is the argument here, that ALL barges should be using the back barge landing.

No one here is against any business making money, or any persons in particular. Us gringos are not against locals doing their thing, or locals in general (which SIN keeps on arguing). What we don't like is these businesses, in particular, are allowed to do what they want regardless of what rules were imposed on them and the town doesn't have the spine to say no. If anyone making money and providing a service to the population is able to get away with murder (figure of speech intended) then this island would be a much different place that I don't think most of us would enjoy as we do now.

By saying that the people who were here the longest should be able to do what they want is just crazy. If the island continues to grow putting big business first (foreign owned or Belizean), the community second, tourism third, I don't believe the island will grow into the 'polished' place you think.

I'm not saying that anyone get special treatment. I'm saying we ALL need to work together. SIN does know many of these local people very well and may be loyal but he also has some great points. Take the good and leave the rest. Finger pointing is non productive. I cannot stress that enough. It has little to do with accountability which we need to move forward. Many of the locals are doing exactly what most gringos suggest and that's trying their best to do business and make their family's lives better. Support of the best ideas are what's needed.
