I'm getting married on AC in February. My fiance is dead set on having a steel drum band play at our wedding/reception. Does anyone know of a steel drum band in the area that I could hire? This is the one thing he asked for pertaining to our wedding so I guess I better oblige him (even though it was his job to find the band).

There used to be a steel drum player on the island. She has moved to Cancun, but still has a home on the island. If the price is right she may come down for you. Contact me with your info and I can put her intouch with you.

There is also a steel band in Belize City.

I had the steel drum band from Belize City at my wedding a few years ago. Actaully I had only about 1/2 of them. They are a club or an organization or something. They played for free (free food and drinks of course). The problem is getting them and their equipment to the island. If I recall we had to hire 2 boats to bring and return them. I think it was around $2,000bz.
That was when fuel was $5.00 a gallon--its $10 now.
Also they had to be back in the city before dark so they left around 4pm.
They would have stayed but we would have had to find hotel accomodations for 25 band memebers.
