Who's missysp? Man I miss everything! frown

Just glad you're back home and hope things will go smoothly for you in the end.

No worries about mentioning your incident on this board. We appreciate being warned. I think the bad plub will go away... unfortunately for that company, they're tarnished indefinitely!

Sandra, please do not be sorry for posting your situation. It was definately the right thing to do.

I have never been to AC. We will be there in December for Christmas week. Saw something about the island on TV and decided to go. Anything else I have learned, has been from this message board and a couple of other sites.

After having read about your situation, I know we made the right choice for a vacation destination.

A tourist has a problem, and the local businesses band together to help out?? Where does that happen?? No place I have heard of. The people on AC care about the folks who come to visit.

And to tell you the truth, I am not surprised. After having read this forum for quite some time, I have gathered what a close knit community this is, and that the folks on AC do care about thier friends and guests.

You folks have had a very unfortunate experience, and I am so sorry for that. At the same time, you folks helped bring out some information that we all needed to be aware of. And for that I thank you.

We made our reservations for a golf cart today. Not afraid to do it. Not afraid to travel to AC. In fact, looking very forward to it. More so, in fact, knowing the integrity of other businesses and people on the island.

I wish you well in the outcome of this situation. Would also like to congratulate the SPBA for what they have done. What a wonderful group of people.

Looking forward to our trip. Hope it will be the first of many. Maybe we will luck out one day, and meet you in person.

Take Care,

Mitzi

I KNOW it isn't just me. When we are there, we are not tourists, we are guests of the people who live there. We see them going on about their lives, the kids going to school, and we see the friendliness they project. It is like a second home where we are very comfortable. The people make the place sooo much better than it already is. That's why it is "different" .

Hi:
I am new here to this forum. We are schedules to vacation on Ambergris in February and will want to rent a golf cart for the week. During this whole ordeal, I did not see any reference to Collision Damage Waiver. Wouldn't this have taken care of the damage to the golf cart?

I read the post/rant from missysp. Other than for language, that could have been edited, I wish I knew why that post was deleted (?) but...if that was the other-side to the story from Island Supermarket, I think we can call it case closed. Proving why defendants should never take the stand.

On the positive side...for anyone reading this thread that has not been to San Pedro, the trip we are planning for next year will be our 5th to belize and 4th to San Pedro. We love it.

We grocery shop at Ritchies Grocery. For all I know they might not have the best prices either but for some reason we connected with them and feel they are ethical, appreciate our business and give us as much respect as we give them. Thats my plug for Ritchies.

We have used Castle Car Rental for a day or 2. They have been fair. But I wouldnt say we have bonded.

Mostly we rent bikes. If you are in good health and the weather is good rent a bike. I have talked to people that have rode their bike to the Northern end of AC and back in a day. We haven't made it further North than Cap Morgans Bar or South to the Sand Bar not to mention many bars and restaurants in-between. I cant remember the bike rental shop name. Last time out, towards the end of the ride, my bike got a flat. With all the road work and construction going on it certainly was not their fault but they didn't charge us for the use of the bike.

Bottom line, this is a very small tourist town with lots of repeat tourists. People remember us from the few previous years and say hi when walking in the street, from their carts or even saying hi from their balconies. Those are the people we do business with. I hope the people of Island Supermarket have another career path.

newbies fear not: we never had a prob with golf cart rentals with cholo's or moncho's. or any business on AC for that matter.

even had a cart stolen, and an hour later, they just delivered another one. no problem, mon.

never shopped at island for more than odds n ends, thank goodness. charging $40US for dr pepper, or 2 packs of smokes for the price of 2 cartons? that's rich. (dang - woulda liked to have caught missyblah blah's rant wink )

i hear ya, razor - 7 trips to BZ, 5 to AC, and jonesing to get back...

Just a clarification about missysp's post. It had nothing to do with the position of the golf cart company but was personal attack on some people that had assisted Warrens in their plight.

This will not stop us from renting a Golf Cart and we will certainly throw as much of our support to SPBA members.I know where I will not rent nor buy from!

Sandra and Norman,

I'm glad you posted your story. First, it provided info for new visitors (like me) about a business to watch out for. More important, it told the story of how wonderful the people of San Pedro are. There are nine of us coming to San Pedro for our first visit in May and we can't wait!!! This really sounds like a beautiful island and I Belize it.
