well, I guess for all who are interested, it appears that this dog, whos name is Ranger, was set to fend for himself when his owners discuvered he had dermatitis, and required medication to the sum of $120/mo. his injuries were severe, and one wound was festering. Rangers owners were found, as were 2 parties interested in adopting. All parties decided euthanasia was the choice. some people, including myself, have donated monies to SAGA in Rangers name to help pay for his care.
I would like to believe that a loving arm was around him at the time he left this world.
thank you to all who showed an interest in this pooch, and especially to JZB, who brought him to SAGA for treatment.

Oh that is what we were afraid of....Thank you for the update.
Ranger came into waiting arms of other dear friends remembered to include:
Tasha our 18 year old Siberian Husky lived like a queen
Diego Red our 5 year old mut who could not out run a car
Share your friends who might have greeted Ranger and we can all rest better knowing "All dogs go to heaven"

I think the original owners should be forbidden to ever own another animal. What a terrible thing to do to an animal, and this is something that could have possibly been prevented. I really wonder what the heck people are thinking when they take on an animal, domesticate it into total dependence on them, then they set them "free" to fend for themselves. I think euthanasia would be preferable than to live with someone like that. This board never fails to make me proud with their compassion for both human and animal life. Too bad this pup didn't get to see that.

Cricket a 2 year old min-pin who I saved from a puppy mill, but she too, could not out run a car. (I gave the car owner a piece of my mind and I was NOT nice about it)
Cody, 14 year old blue heeler who I was with when the time came for her to leave. I wanted to be the one holding her and the last one she saw when I had to put her down because of failing health.
We hate to see them go, but suffering is a worse fate.

I lost two dogs in two weeks, one by natural causes, a rescued Aussie, who died of chf, and then the UPS man creep over my rescued 120# lab, because he was protecting his turf. THen the A$$hole left him to bleed to death in the hot sun, without telling anyone what he had done. I was at work, and found him when I got home, many hours later. We have an invisible fence, and the dogs stay home, in their six acres, loving life. I have adopted many strays, and every one of them has left a huge impression on my heart. "Heaven is the place where all the dogs you've ever loved come running to meet you when you get there" is one of my favorite thoughts. I know some of them are better off there than here. I just wish it wasn't so. We have to change the subject, this is getting depressing. Just, if anyone ever adopts an animal, PLEASE give them all the love, medical treatments, and belly rubs needed to keep them healthy and happy. I have an Aunt who said when she dies, she wants to come back as my dog, and live the life of royalty. LOL...she is funny, but I think a little bit serious.

Many people on the board will know how I feel about dogs - all pets, in fact - and how upset I was when my dog was killed (murdered) last year. I really wanted to adopt Ranger, but I had a long session with the vet Heather and realised it was misplaced idealism. He was in distress and always would have been.

I currently have 3 dogs- one a rescue, that was in the same situation as Ranger was- her prev owner didnt want to pay for her meds $190 every other month. Abbey is the best dog I have ever had, I have Mandy - who was my Dads dog, she is as sweet as can be, and Sebastion, My Moms dog- who is cute as a bug. they all live as royalty, and rarely sleep on anything but a bed or sofa My 2 cats, well Bless their hearts- they put up with all the barking, and actually think they are dogs too. lets put this topic to rest, and do a good deed in the name of your favorite pooch.
