Hi Sun & Sand,
Don't know if you are aware of it, but all the property from Bermuda Landing to The Cloisters was "swamp". Many years ago, one of the McDermotts built that seawall that stretches along that part of the beach and completely filled in the swamp!
You're missing some awesome weather!

Hey S & S, just re-read my post and it came off pretentious. Just want to find a good place at a good price. Guess we won't know which one that is until we are there and checking it out. As for reclaimed land, guess it doesn't matter what it is, its still a man-made structure that wasn't there in the beginning.

anyway, I can't wait to get down there and in the water!

Thanks

Hey Loansum...I am so stinking jealous that you are there and I am here. We have sold the estate, purchased some swamp land in SC, and will be building a house there next year. While that is going on, I will be there, in SP, for the duration. I can't wait, and I am hoping that you and yours are still there when I get there, cause I think I owe you a drink or two, don't I?
Yes, I knew Bermuda Landing is on fill, as is "Bob's flats" I believe. But, it's a nice piece of property, and if it's created by fill, so be it. I know there are pro's and con's, but I guess you can't please everyone.
And, Jill, no worries. You will find what you want when you get there. There are deals from very little $$ to a whole buncha $$. Good luck!!

Thanks to all of you for the information and links. My trip is narrowed down to Feb now, so we'll be checking everything out at that time. I know he isn't going to buy anthing with out physically seeing it, which is fine by me...I can't wait to go!

I'll be looking some of you up when I get there! Thank you all!

Sun & Sand, we were at the village today for the big sales day going on, they had every free hand on the island tempting all passerbys with a free breakfast and lunch to listen to the hour long pitch. We though we'd get the free lunch and some drinks but alas there were none for owners wandering in. Anyway, Doug, a salesman said the new timeshare building was to have 80 units with an elevator and much more. He also said the theater is planned to have a movie theater and a Branson MO style stage theater to bring in big name acts, all news to us. We are here for 6 months, now renting since out unit wasn't done when expected and were just stopping by for a beer at the palapa bar. Is this how you heard it, S&S?

Hi Fly...I'm sorry you didn't get a breakfast or lunch. You'd think they would make special efforts to accomodate you, since you are having to rent a place because your's wasn't finished on time. We are aware of the planned projects, and I know it will be wonderful once completed. I am sorry it will take some of the charm away, tho. With growth comes crime, and I am really hating that. Have you seen the projected completion plans? It's amazing.
I equate timeshare sales people with used car salesmen. I REFUSE to ever give any of my time listening to their talks. We used to do it, but I dislike high pressure anything, and I not a fan of being stopped on the street with a "great offer" of anything, "just listen to our 90 min presentation"....nope, not for me. Hubby will listen to anything if it gets him something free..not me.
Are you buying a condo or villa? We just love our condo there. The view is a little distorted now with the Cloisters going up, but all we have to do is turn our heads towards Bermuda Beach and we see the beautiful sea.
Hope you are still there when we get there in Jan. Love to meet you all.

S&S, we'll be here until the end of April, hope to hook up with you. Where did you get a copy of the latest plan? Is it the one on the web site? I haven't talked to Jeff or Jules about the marina but someone posted on the Reef Village Google Group that it is now to be across the road on the sea side, not in the lagoon or on the property at all. Is that how you read it?
