Unfortunately everybody on this island now has to suffer the barge noises. They run all day, all night pretty much everyday.
There was once an agreed to schedule with the Caribbean Queen (Depot) whereby they would agree to only load and off load between the hours of 7am and 7pm. I have no idea is they still stick to that rule.
Progress definitely has its downside.
But anybody that is complaining that they need the roads fixed, or they want bottled water, or construction materials or non-perishible food stuffs needs to understand that these barges are only running because of your demands. The barges are providing a much need service.
Again, less than ideal situations prevail, but unless somebody lobbies, and follows through with legislation and enforcement, things will continue to be inconvenient and disruptive.
Making a difference starts with the first step. And that first step doesn't mean riling up people on the message board - it means formulating a plan for a practical solution and then following through.
Making police reports takes a whole pile of patience, but the system can work if do it the right way. Good things come to those who wait!
