No . . back in my Belizean smoking days, I was smoking Colonials, but it's rough. Not like on Roatan where their locals smokes aren't too bad.

If I were you, I'd figure out how to get enough smokes down with you. Stuff some in your shorts or something. smile

My friend took two cartons with her last time they(customs) just asked her how long she was staying. You can buy duty free going in or out of the country. at least we did when we where there in Oct.Like I said before in my other post the prices at the Belize City airport duty free shops are very inexpensive. Have a good trip I really don't think you will have a problem with the Cig issue either way you chose to go!

They don't sell Canadian cigarettes at the duty free in Belize.

Otherwise, I agree . .they should just bring as many smokes as they think they'll need. Shouldn't be a problem at all, as long as it doesn't look like they've got enough to be selling them. smile

I should point out that if you are the type of people that easily make acquaintance of locals and have a generous nature, you'll probably need a few more cigarettes than you thought. Not that you'll be giving away packs of smokes or anything like that, but the single smokes seem to go pretty quickly on an evening out.

Colomojo, Please explain why you could not carry liquor on to Tropic Air flight? Was it due to the 3oz liquid rule?
Thanks

We had the same problem with tropic air, we flew from Houston with a 1/5 of tequila on delta, so we assumed there wouldn't be a problem on tropic air. We where told that it is for safety reasons. We had to have are bags pulled and put the bottle in our suitcase.

It was kind of a weird thing, When we were going through the security area they told me I had to check the liquor so I ran back to the ticket counter and spoke to one of the guys working at the ticket counter - I gave him the bag with the liquor, went back through security and then he came up to me as we were getting ready to board our Tropic Air flight and gave me the liquor back - so we did take it on the TA flight but couldn't carry it through...it was strange but it all worked out.

I don't think Tropic Air has a problem with liquids aboard their flights. The problem is that security does not want liquids taken into the departure lounge because local and international flights share the same lounge. someone would be able to pass off a bottle to an international passenger.

If you wanted to, you could carry several gallons of booze on any other Tropic flight because you do not go through security at any other airport/strip.

Thanks JZB looking forward to meeting you in April when we stay at your Island Cottage, need to bring my Seagrams in a plastic bottle so it won't break. From what I have been able to determine Imported Liquor is expensive there.

JZB your post seems accurate, it was the security folks that made me go back to check in - bigmike - unless you plan on drinking rum, pick up your liquor before hand, it is well worth it. It is not only expensive, certain brands my not be available or are hard to come by.
