Is that your opinion, dog. Hm,mmmm. And what am I to do with my cojones? You think I can stop the snowball?
Otter, I wasn't aware that I was insinuating anything, much less that the Libertarians weren't the answer. I don't believe politicians or government of any stripe, whether it is a bigger or smaller government, can modify the society without clamping down drastically. Ooops, that means more government. I do not insinuate, and will admit right up front that I do not have a solution. Other than me being appointed King, of course.

My long time saying is, "things aren't gonna change. At least, until I am king." Ya do what ya can, but you can't change other people. Offering people enlightenment and wisom hasn't worked very well in the past. Stuffing it down their throats hasn't worked either. Proposals for the bettering of mankind being solicited. Anyone got a "solution"?. Logical persons, presenting logical solutions to illogical persons seldom succeed. We seem to have a surplus of illogical people in this world.

I believe your life would be less tortuous if you had elected to pursue a degree in philosophy rather than engineering.
If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.

Philosophers are a dime a dozen, dog, you know that. Too many amateurs in the biz, so no money. Philosophers are folk who specialize in opinions, and you have defined opinions. As far as my torturous life, eh. What can you do? Blame someone else?

"An interesting observation about the previous few posts is how many of us (me included) describe ourselves as "libertarians" at heart, but are not able to commit 100% to a party or cause with no chance whatsoever of representation."
I was thinking about the same thing. There is at least one candidate that fits what most of the posters to this thread. Yet that candidate gets no attention because nobody thinks he can win. So we are damned because we keep voting for and supporting candidates that have been picked to be the front runners by the media and other powers. Meanwhile the candidates that most closely represent what may be the majority view go ignored.
For example Rykat said he wanted a conservative Republican, but that there wasn't one running. That is totally untrue...an old school conservative's conservative is running under the Republican ticket. He also happens to fit the bill for most of the libertarian leaning folks.
The other politicians have given him the nickname Dr. No because he votes no to just about any bill that would expand the Federal government. Which as you can imagine includes most bills...

He has become known as the anti war candidate, which leads many Republicans/Conservatives to not look further into his platform, plus he's kinda geeky, and this is the age of the "Media Candidate" after all….if Hilary looked like Janet Reno, would she have any chance…..same thing for guys, especially as more women vote than men
It's rarely rocket science, it's usually just math: then again if you can't do the math.......
