Are you kidding me.......I can't hardly sit at the Lime Bar knowing that at some point that is going to be my last stop when I have to leave the island. The depression lasts until the snow melts, the grass turns green and the birds start coming around. Then it's golf season and life is good again. I miss the island daily and anxiously await our return, only 300 some days to go !

We also start planning our next trip before we get home!! I only wish that we get could there more than once a year!! I will be better once it really starts to warm up and then I'm good until winter again!!! We really love SP and it does have a way of creeping into your soul, I don't think a day goes by when I don't think about returning but it give us someting to look forward to.

I get depressed when I think of packing to return home from San Pedro and when we talk about "finishing up" food and beverages and not buying more. The flight from San Pedro to BZE certainly lacks the excitement and anticipation of the earlier flight TO the island!
The good thing is that the depression ends after about 6 months when the days to wait are fewer than the days since.

Seashell hit it on the head. I just start planning the next trip and it's amazing how the depression goes away as soon as the tickets are booked! Sigh...I'm happy if I can get three trips in a year. Some years are better than others smile I WANNA GO BACK!!!!

Thanks Teenah, now please go and answer your email! smile

divingcowgirl . . "melancholy ache"?? Pullease . . it was only this most recent trip in Feb, when for the first time I can recall I did not tear up on the flight to Belize City. Regardless, as I was standing in the Houston airport, I was saying "This is just so wrong, so wrong. I'm not supposed to have left!"

Now, that's only one time without any liquid in my eyes, so I'll have to see if I've truly conquered the tears after my next trip.

I'm in the midst of planning my return and there's been some hitches. Maybe tears are still in the offing.

Ditto to what Gela said above, as I have been with her numerous times - standard "procedure" now - get to Tropic a bit early, check in and over to BCs to relax for an hour. Such convenience to walk across the road to board your flight. lol. Sometimes, I even do the reverse - upon arrival, leave my luggage for a bit and get a quick BC's/beach fix. I don't highly recommend this, as one can easily get carried away, but that is another story!

Laurie and Gela, you guys are kinda lucky. My flight leaves the island in the morning. I'm generally in an absolute flap just trying to ensure my bags are packed and that I'm going to make the taxi.

I've decided that next trip, I'm going to stay overnight in Houston on the way back. That way I don't have to fly out until afternoon. I'll be able to sleep in, have a leisurely lunch and who knows . maybe I'll want another cocktail before I leave. Then I'm going to crash out in the Heavenly bed in my room at the Sheraton Houston North, perhaps after a little room service. Then I'll get up early, refreshed and ready for my morning flight to Calgary. I'll pop into the office and put in a few hours in the afternoon. Doesn't that make sense?

Well, it does and it doesn't, but at least once, I'd like to try leaving later in the day and see if that improves the usual aspects of my departures.

...and raise your flasks to the timeshare salesmen, the pica-pica, the drug dealers on bicycles, the stray dogs, the Crocadile feeders, bless our beautiful mess smile.
