I like to pack a couple of bricks to hold down the corners of my beach blanket.

Boreas - I would throw a pair of Tevas or crocks in the bag in case of a rainy day as walking in wet flip flops can be tricky. Throw in a long sleeve shirt for sun protection and a good floppy hat as well.
Jessie - some of the beach dogs have fleas so I am partial to empty Belikin bottles.
