We have a massage table in Toronto Canada (weight about 30 lbs boxed) and are trying to brainstorm a cost effective easy way to get it here.

Any suggestions?

Is it the sort of thing that could go as a 2nd piece of luggage? When I come down on the 8th I'm only planning on bringing one suitcase. I see people checking boxes all the time.

Didn't we see a charter flight coming down on January 8th? I would say contact the tour operator and have them help you get the table down here. I think it was Signature tours... anyway there is a thread on this site somewhere....

Littleengine I think it could but would be reluctant to send with anyone unless they were willing to call airline first to make sure it would not be a hassle.

My brother coming on first but he was iffy about it cause he things duty will be a lot and extra weight charges.

I need to talk to customs here and see what they say. The person I spoke to before that would have been able to help on this end is no longer in San Pedro so I have talk to someone else and see what they say.

Hi tacogirl... Yes, I can understand not wanting someone to show up at the airport only to find out there that they can't take it with them. The Signature Vacations website has some information about oversized things like sporting equipment, etc... If they only charge $100 to ship a windsurf board or a kayak I can't imagine it would cost that much extra to ship an odd sized box. There is an email address on the actual Skyservice website that you can use to email them any specific baggage questions (pre-flight_inquiries@skyservice.com)... if you can give them the exact weight and dimensions of the package, they should be able to tell you if they'll take it and what, if any, over-size/weight charges might apply.

I know it is holiday time and there is a lot on the go but please cross fingers we get a good answer from them in a decent time frame.

(I do know someone who got table to Central America in a bicycle box which is why I was hopeful)

Please note that special allowances have been made for various forms of sporting equipment, and boxed or not, your massage table would not qualify as sporting equipment and will not be permitted in your checked baggage.
