I don't mind a man speaking well of his company on a thread personally (though it may go against forum rules... that I don't know). However, it does strike me as shady to pretend to have a 3rd person view of a situation he is obviously involved in.

As for the financials, I have those already. I try to avoid brokers where I can so I contacted the owner directly.

Advertising,referrals and lead generation whether direct,acting or disguised happen on a regular basis here. It is actually quite amusing to watch.

Is it NOT OK for people one does not like to self promote while shamelessly and frequently promoting ones self?

hmm, Amanda, a)is it inappropriate for you to decide who can and cannot advertise themselves on this forum? and b)I have seen you tirelessly advertise all over this message board! Seems like you might be calling the kettle black?

That's more than a little unfair on Amanda. I have only seen her talk about her business when directly asked, but she will rightly stand up for herself, her Company and her industry. She is also an administrator and their job is to uphold Marty's rules, which I believe don't allow direct unsolicited advertising or third person when actually first person advertising.

People do self promote on here all the time in various ways, but if it's direct and obvious as to who and what you are, AND it's in context to the thread so what, or if it's on an almost subliminal level where they're a helpful nice person on a variety of issues and subjects and people know what they do and are more inclined to use them, so what.

This arguement is moot. If there is no prohibition to self advertising on these boards, then no one should complain when someone does just that.

On the other hand, pretending to be a third party while promoting your own business is deceptive, shady and just down-right lieing. There should have to be a rule about lieing... don't do it.

Anyone can post anything they wish on these boards, so long as it doesn't breach the law or accepted public decency, or do anything else that the mods think undesirable. How people interpret what you post is however up to them, and insidious secretive advertising is both easy to spot and generally totally counter-productive.

Amanda rules don't start in on her or i will get riled up. she doesn't ADVERTISE.

she does however, give excellent succinct advice if one is smart and quiet enough to listen carefully.
