I found and article from June, 1997 about the development of a Xcaret style Dolphin Park near San Pedro. It would have been developed by the same Mexican business man that owns Xcaret. What ever happend with this project? There was also talk about an airstrip in the Basil Jones area for tourist development of northern Ambergris. Besides the Basil Jones Resort is there anything else in the planing stages. I heard something about a large Resort like the Hyatt. Does anyone have any info?

The dolphin park is dead... long dead.
The airstrip development in northern Ambergris Caye is just talk but theres no money or reality to it.
The "Hyatt" resort (500 rooms?) is dead. No go!!
Talk is cheap.

Xcaret in Mexico was truly beautiful and very well thought out. It went to great pains to preserve the habitat of the animals and make something special. Even though, I'm also glad it's dead for northern Ambergris.
I have not heard about the Hyatt thing dying.... what happened?

I absolutely loved Xcaret and Xel-Ha. Defintely would go back again! Sounds like it might be out of place for A.C. and that is probably a good thing.
