I have no problem with Belize Immigration. Now US border patrol and TSA are another story.

Oh dear. Welcome to Belize I imagine. Take a leaf out of Dabunks book and hope Immigration don't work out who you are - posting your business details on your profile helps. If they do and you think it's bad now...................

Just came in yesterday. Immigration and Customs both (at Corozal) couldn't have been more courteous, helpful and efficient.

hazzy has said that he lives here so most likely referring to the monthly visa. The trick is always be courteous - if they ask you to come back later just do it, never, never be late on your stamps. And as soon as legally possible apply for your permanent residency.

Always be nice, polite and cordial - remember, when you apply for residency you will have to follow up with the immigrations officers, once you obtain your residency you might still have to visit with them from time to time. And if you go for your citizenship thereafter, yep, you will be dealing with immigration again. When you renew your Belizean passport - yes it is at the immigration office.

So, you will find that the vast majority of government officials will mirror whatever attitude you display. They are expected to be cordial but firm and straight forward.

I've never had a problem with them. The only time they gave us a good going-over is when we flew our own plane in.

Amanda was right...I'm talking about work permits and residency issues. I've never had problems at any border stations. I'm referring to the office at the coffee shop. The only problem I've ever had at the border was that they only gave me 5 days on a stamp, claiming that it was all they could do. My attempt to show them my nearly filled passport with plenty of border station stamps giving 30 day extensions didn't seem to persuade them.

I think its crazy that you can't get residency unless you are here something like 350 days of the year.....don't most people who decide to move here like to travel?

You only have to stay one year - to show your commitment and true desire to be a resident of Belize. Once you have your residency status you can travel freely out of the country.
