For those who know Tammy Martinez aka Sandshaker, she is in her last days on this earth. Ovarian cancer and Myelodysplastic Syndrome have got a grip on her, and aren't going to let go.

Her body is tired. Peace be to her and we'll see her on the other side....

I, too, was saddened to hear the news from Tammy. She is tired!!
She fought long and hard and always reminded us (girls) to listen to our bodies and talk to our doctors early.
I pray she has an "easy trip".... Prayers to you Tammy

Tammy has been fighting this curse for a long time...my prayers and thoughts will be with her. For those of us who remember the destruction caused by Hurricane Keith... Tammy spent weeks attending to many of our ceaseless questions and provided much needed medical care for the many hurricane victims in San Pedro.

i was afraid to post anything here - people can be so cruel.

tammy is a friend. here's what i wrote her:

for only having met you face to face less than half a dozen times, here is what i know about my friend, Sandshaker:

i know you fought hard.
i know you stayed strong.
i know you never lost your faith.
i know you love your family.
i know the pain you have endured was undeserved.
i know you never stopped being pleasant.
i know you have a huge heart.
i know you always listened.
i know you have a great sense of humor.
i know you love writing in fancy fonts.
i know you never stopped saying "LOL".
i know you never judged others, including me.
i know you have been my friend for a long time now.
i know you keep writing me, even when i forget to write you.
i know you left a piece of yourself in belize.
i know i will always think of you as a friend that i love and respect.

tammy, you added something to my life too. godspeed, girlfriend.

Tammy, thank you again for your kindness to so many of us during the aftermath of Keith. We wish you Peace and fair sailing on your journey back home.

I just read back over Sandshaker's posts from this last year to see if I needed to tender any apologies while there was still time.

What I saw was a good and caring soul: someone with strength in her convictions who has always been polite, civil and courteous to both her friends, allies and those with whom shes disagrees.

When I find myself slipping, I will try and remember your example Tammy.
