One of the girls coming with us in October is a sailing instructor by profession and would like to do some sailing while on the island.

It's my understanding that in order to do some sailing, she cannot just rent a boat and go due to the new captains license law. Is that correct? Is that something that she can get while she's down there? Or is it something that she just won't be able to do.

She can rent a hobie cat or charter a yacht with TMM but that's about her only shot. I can think of no one who would rent you their sailboat no matter how experienced you were. It's not an issue with the license it's a matter of not wanting the boat getting wrecked due to lack of local knowledge.

There are plenty of operators who will take her out sailing though.
