$140 from the day it opened was ridiculous. Geez, go a couple hundreds yards north. Can you say Mata Rocks, Banana Beach, even Banyan.

I agree that the rooms are VERY nice, all things considered. But how much time do you plan to spend in a room that doesn't even have a patio overlooking the ocean?

The price is ridiculous. The pool is great, the bar is good, the beach area, not too bad. Long way from town.

I sort of agree with krehfish. That said, though I quite like Mata Rocks, if you want to have a nice pool at the place you stay, then Mata Rocks is out. If you don't care about a pool, then it is a great little place, though not every one of its rooms are created equal.

Unless you get a smoking deal on Royal Caribbean, you probably want to stay elsewhere.

What's up with the pool at Mata Rocks?

Nothing is up with it, it is just very very small; more of a dipping or ornamental pool.

OK, thanks for the info. It's one of the places I'm considering for my trip. Hard to see that on the website.

RCR does have one of the best (largest) pools on the island for swimming. Most pools are only big enough for bathing.

IMO Mata Rocks is one of the better resorts on the island. My kind of speed/size etc.

Mata Rocks is a great place, nice beach bar, clean, good owners. In all the years Ive traveled to SP, I have never seen anyone swimming laps in any pool.
