I gotta agree with Ollie Spain certainly did not look anything like World Champions and the Germans while I hate to say it looks pretty lethal and would be hard pressed to bet against them.

How many Belikins?

A few World Cup observations:

1. The standard of football is lower than one sees at club level in the best leagues (Serie A, La Liga, Premiership, Bundesliga). Proof of this can be seen in the Germany strikers Klose and Podolski....3 goals between them in the Bundesliga all last season, Klose alone has 4 in this World Cup in just 5 games.

2. Thierry Henry was vilified by everyone for his deliberate handball against Ireland. Maradona was vilified by many after his deliberate "hand of God" handball against England in '86. And yet...in this World Cup the Germany goalie admitted "deceiving the officials" by acting as though Lampard's goal "wasn't". How is that any less a form of cheating?

3. Guy with most egg on face due to the World Cup has to be Sepp Blatter....was against goal line replays prior to the tournament and now forced to do a 180 degree turn. Fat useless git.

very interesting. having played goalie for many many years, i must add that most goalies make that move by instinct (Re: Lampards goal #2 above)

Blatter is a fool, not trying to improve football just his legacy. Diving, crappy balls, lack of goal line technology, injured players having to leave the pitch after treatment, Diving, the lost art of tackling as their all becoming pansies these days, players flashing the imaginary card, not being allowed to breath on the goalkeeper who has the advantage of using his arms (unless you're Henry, Maradona or Suazo and a cheat), simulation and DIVING all need to be eradicated. Stop messing with the ball the offside rule substitutes and sort out the fundamentals. ie quit ffs.

Does "the pitch" have anything to do with horse shoes or washers ? How much longer does this grief go on ?
