Its ten minutes of actual "ride time". You just have to take the boat on their schedule, hope that its on time, etc. Its much much easier if you're closer to town.

It isn't getting to the party that's the problem. The problem arises when you want to get home from the party.

If people like to enjoy the nightlife, they are just better off staying closer to town, where they can walk or take a taxi or take their own golfcart.

There aren't too many single beachfront homes/villas close to town that sleep ten people. Off the top of my head I can count them on one hand with spare fingers left over and if you want to walk less than half a mile I can think of two and I know half of them are booked for those dates as I run one of 'em!!!

Also, they mentioned having few neighbours so they will want to be South or North of Town and it will then involve a form of transport, so Solaria is right up there at the top of the choices along with plenty of others.

Depending on their budget, they might be quite happy at Victoria House in the Azul.

Private Water taxis that run on your schedule can be easily arranged in advance or via a quick call from a rented cell phone, so don't let that be a deciding factor. They'll go North or South. I have several times had Coastal Expess do it as a walk up service, if they have the resources at the time ie a Captain and a boat, for guests deciding on a spontaneous Dinner at a Northern Restaurant. They also cost the same as the normal water taxi afer a certain amount of people (less than this group size but I'm not certain of the number)

I hear ya Phil, but with a group that size, you've got people wanting to go home at different times from the rest of the group, people wanting to go to another bar from some of them, some want to stay in that night and party the next night . . .the variables are almost infinite. Do they each have to carry a cellphone so that they can potentially be able to contact a boat that will take them home? I'm sticking by my recommendation that if they truly want nightlife freedom, then they should stay within walking distance or regular taxi distance. Also, what if it storms or seas are rough?

Yes, Casa Caracol is a great spot, but they also wanted a pool. Did you get a pool?

Let me just put my two cents worth in here. If there are 10 people a private water taxi is just peanuts and I know several guys that would be glad to be available by phone to pick the party people up, in whatever combination or groups you want, and when and where they want. Sometimes it is nice to have a little quiet time at a nice place and if you have a group of 10 then I think the quality of the accommodations and amenities would be the main thing to be concerned about. Of course if all you intend to do is drink 24/7 then town is probably the place to be (of course the costs of drinks purchased at bars is quite a bit more than making your own cocktails at your villa). OK, just tired of watching this drama especially with one person having such an obvious bias though I don't know why.
