After Keith I just don't get excited about these things anymore. Its like Peggy Lee singing 'Is That All There Is.
I'm more interested in seeing the East West road tested.
when the lagoon backs up to jessys house I'll boat over to rescue him.

Yeah that's my son's attitude. Just be prepared as always so you dont accidentally get your butt kicked. I would probably run from Mitch, again.

My worries are mainly for the folks that live in low lying areas, in homes that are not very sturdy who don't have a lot of spare money to pick up their families to seek safer refuge. These are the people that tend to endure the majority of the suffering when we encounter high winds and extreme rains.

Some folks want to be prepared, but simply don't have the wherewithal to take all precautions.

to answer Snoopy's Mom ......
"Expect the unexpected" would be the weather-advice.

For practical matters - if there is a serious high wind threat, BEL will shut down power to the island as a preventative measure, and the sale of alcoholic beverages will be illegal for a while. Phone-lines in and out of the country will get way too busy so try to use the phone tree system internationally. BWS might have trouble supplying water to folks (if you store some now in a plastic garbage can you will have plenty back-up). In an emergency LOVE FM broadcasts 24 hours a day in emergency mode - they do an incredible job.

There is a storm-prep guide posted on Jesse's website - it's too long to post here again, but look it over and you will get a sense of what could/might occur and what to do about it.

If the birds disappear you can count on trouble. I trust them more than any weather-man.

The flooding potential is probably the greatest danger from 92, but we'll see.

Thanks everyone - we just didn't want to jump the gun on the last minute type preparations. Luckily, I have plenty of wine, so party at our house if we get hit LOL

It's already the last minute. Doing the basics now is not jumping the gun, by any means. It just doesn't look like a board up the windows and freak-out kind of day ---- but it does look like a maybe pull the boat and definitely listen to the radio kind of day. All kidding aside - "hurricane parties" are a great way to get hurt.

Agreed, those of us who experienced "Keith". Don't take this one lightly. Prepare and consider it time well spent, even if we only get a good rain.
