My wife and I pay approximately $3,500.00 USD for Health Insurance. For the most part going to the doctor here you pay cash as the policy is really there to cover major medical issues.

Well, their are about 20 new, within the last 3 yrs rentals that are VERY NICE..certainly not bottom of the line.one bedroom full kitchen, air conditioned units centrally located that rent for $500 U.S. a month. You can go on a snorkel trip from Caye caulker to Hol Chan which is directly in front of San Pedro for half the price from here. I can get stew chicken for $2.50 all day long. The average price of a beer here is $2.00, I think thats high. You can get a vacation rental one bedroom, built last year, full kitchen, air, large swimming pool and bar on the beach for $60 .00 a nite.
I am not out to slam San Pedro..I love San Pedro. We go over on most all special occasions..love to spend a day or two.but could never afford to live their.
If a person had an extra $1.000 a month after rent, by the way utilities are included...they could do just fine...many, many restaurants at under $10 a meal...we are so frugal..or mabe cheap we dont like spending more than $5.00 and still have many options..I am talking about dinner.
To the young mother of two that spends $4,000 BZE a month and no rent or tuition...OMG....thats about 3 months for us all inclusive. We have a boat. Internet, cable. nice place and support our creature comforts as well.

Takes plenty money for expats to live here. DCan be done iif you use all things local but birds of a feather usually cannot manage. A feww real soulmates with Belizeans have assisimilated and they get all sorts of help with government fees and local thiefing. But that tzkes years and big attitude change. Not the way they talk to gringos and tourists. The are apart. But if you want to make it here and be happy with close friends breeze your way into the local heart.

I looked at those this AM, and I think they are very accurate. We live on an Island and things are expensive. I lived on the Island of Oahu Hawaii once, and things were expensive....and the barge trip was much longer.
