I would presume in that range it's for above ground use and a nice fast zoom of some description? Could have done with one of those recently trying to shoot a rodeo indoors...

BTW, Heres a shark from a few years ago with the 8000g

400mm Its my birding lens.
Nice shot your D-90 shoots RAW have you tried that yet? I've found its the best for underwater.
You can correct the Kelvin Temperature easy.
I'm using RAW for everything now but back it up with a basic jpeg to view editing quickly.
So what I'm saying is i shoot two simultaneous images, one is jpeg basic just to see what i have shot in a edit mode and the other is RAW format, the real thing i make my photo from.

I use RAW all the time unless it is a very informal thing where I am likely to just take happy snaps where I'll use jpg fine.

I use Capture NX2 for post processing - very nice toy. Yes, the WB correction is a really useful feature if you forget to set. I like the fact you have presets and a colour temp correction if you really want to get fussy.

Your shark shot? Nice. When we were last out (2 years ago) the visibility was a little down and everywhere there were hundreds of sharpnosed puffers. Hopefully it will be good this year.

I must admit the hardest lesson I have had is to look around! Not to stay buried in the camera. Also to try and be considereate - it's annoying when someone trys to barge you out of the way to get a look at a squirrelfish or something ridiculous. I had a great time when the group were looking at nurse sharks and I just hung back and played with a couple of morays.
