Dear Friends and Family --

You have probably heard me discuss the wonderful work being done at Liberty Children's Home in Belize.
For a brief reminder and a chance to feel really GOOD about something, kindly visit our website:

<http://www.libertychildrenbelize.org>

Kelly and Mukul Kanubar own restaurants (along with other community based businesses) in San Pedro, and have a dedicated donation program for Liberty. For the past year in they have collected Liberty donations in their businesses and have matched the funds. It's made a big difference in the lives of some very special kids.
This week Kelly and Mukul are doing something additional to make Christmas special for the children. We need your help to make it work. It costs you nothing to participate. Please read the message below and spend just a minute of your time to help the kids?

Let your friends and family know too - all it takes is a click of the computer.
DO IT TODAY PLEASE ....... !!!

Happy Holidays!

-----------

Kelly and I want to do our small part to help make Christmas at Liberty House a bit brighter. So, for every Facebook fan of The Phoenix, Red Ginger, Blue Water Grill, Caliente, and Wine de Vine as of noon on Christmas Day, we will donate $1 to Liberty House. As of today, we have 1970 fans total. We're hoping to get to 3,000 or more. Please spread the word to friends and family and everyone in your Facebook world.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

And here are the links to the respective Facebook pages:

Business Group uses Facebook to make Christmas Donation

Kelly McDermott Kanabar and Mukul Kanabar donate $3,000 to Liberty Children's Home

Five of San Pedro's popular businesses - The Phoenix, Blue Water Grill, Caliente, Red Ginger, and Wine de Vine, came together for a good cause - to give a good Christmas to the children of Liberty Children's Home in Belize City.
A year ago (December 23, 2009), Kelly and Mukul Kanabar started collecting donations for Liberty Children's Home at their restaurants (Caliente, Red Ginger, and Blue Water Grill) with the incentive that they would personally match every dollar donated. In one year, Mr. and Mrs. Kanabar have contributed nearly $20,000 to Liberty Children's Home.

"We wanted to do something special for Liberty this Christmas," commented Mr. Kanabar to Ambergris Today, "so we launched the Facebook fundraising effort in which we agreed to donate $1 for the total number of fans on Christmas Day of our five businesses - The Phoenix, Blue Water Grill, Caliente, Red Ginger, and Wine de Vine. We thought using Facebook would be a fun and innovative way to spread the word about Liberty to people here in Belize and abroad."

The Facebook effort began on Saturday, December 18 and ended on Christmas Day. On Christmas Day, the five businesses had a total of 2,991 fans, so Mr. And Mrs. Kanabar decided to round up and make a donation to Liberty in the amount of $3,000. The check for $3,000 was directly deposited into Liberty's bank account at Belize Bank on December 28, 2010. Receipt of the deposit was acknowledged by the Delfena Mitchell, Director of Liberty Children's Home.
Kudos to all those who supported this worthy cause, to all the Facebook fans of all five businesses and to Mr. and Mrs. Kanabar who have the children of Liberty Children's Home at heart.

**Liberty Children's Home was established in 2004 as a sanctuary for children in need, providing a natural environment with love, nurturing, and a high standard of education. The home's philosophy has been influenced by the Pikler method of childcare, a well-researched approach to prevent damaging effects of institutionalization on children. Liberty Children's Home also draws from the Reggio Emilia and Montessori methods that aim for the fullest possible development of the whole child.
