I really miss the Harrier flybys....thew blew the thatch off McDermotts Paradise Bar. Colonel Frasier-Orr and his wwife Tiggy came out a few days later with a crew..steaks..booze and rebuilt the roof with a whale of a party to follow. Maya Air had a pilot that routinely buzzed in an Islander with the props throwing a wake. He is no longer with us. Ah, the Puma helos used to land at the strip and the blew the the coconuts about and killed a dog. The sillies stopped after that. By noting the pitot tubes on the C130 and no visible markings indicating military use...it appears to be a weather test platform...the radar side scanning bulge is a also used by DEA and the weather folks. The mystery continues...

Years ago a Harrier tried a low hover on the gravel on Caye Chapel. It sucked in debris and engine stopped.The other plane went for help. They surrounded the plane with guns for days because of the secret electronics inside, cut it up and took it away in a barge. The fuselage was mostly plastic.

The plane is British military and the crew that was on it was practicing low altitude maneuvers. They flew a few miles north on AC, doubled back south, buzzed CC, then flew down to the blue hole(circled it twice), and back to the international airport. They were on AC before the flyby & after and I got to meet 1 of the crew on the flight.

didn't like the harriers or the tanks, got tired of being called a Limey when i was 17 in cayo! and was once forcibly taken back to Holfast Camp!
