Aren't there some governmental restrictions on the brewing process itself?

No there are no restrictions on brewing beer, just guidelines on the labeling and recycling. It is not illegal to brew beer, you just can't brew it for sale without a permit. It's a big gray area.

A humorous yet working solution might be.....Free Beer with the purchase of any beautifully designed coaster.....

..or free beer with a purchase of jagermeister..

As you just pointed out, there is no such thing as a free beer!

turn the place into a non-profit and just accept "donations"

I just may have to do that. Maybe I can make 1" pizzas and run a promo "buy a pizza get a free beer"

Seriously? Simple business....if you are a monopoly, you can get more for your business when you sell it. If there is competition, you will have a smaller market share than a monopoly and you will get less for your business.

On another note...think everyone would like to have something new every once in a while.

In a Texas dry county, you can only sell beer if you're a private club with memberships. So you go into a bar, pay $1 for a membership.....and voila! Or you buy a $10 membership and get a $10 credit at the bar. Same thing. You just gotta beat them at their own game....which is not very difficult at all when you consider your adversaries. Just takes a little creativity and "uniqueness".

Pretty sure you can manage to get around all this red tape if your pockets are deep enough and you are willing to push them to their mental breaking points.

I'm so sorry, PJ and Jeff, it's an old story and people have tried.
I did a little search on this board, and the same search on Google. The word was Monopoly/ monopolies.
Interesting, about nothing came up on the board.
On google there were all kinds of stories about Monopolies in Belize. There was the Ashcroft BTL phone thing, something about busses and taxies in the City, the Bowen Business came up, former businesses...BEL, some lumber businesses in Corazol, etc.
The country...really is so small economically, with not enough economic carrying capacity; fearful of open markets. It still gains a lot of money,which doesn't seem to go to the populace, out of gouging tourists, new coming expats out of customs, duty, and fees, restricting free trade, and corruption.
It's the Government Stupid (which includes powerful colluding private forces/families).
Sorry, but it's hard to see through it when you get all the "move to Belize hype".
The country and government needs to do some research, because they are killing lots of Golden Geese. And, for all of you that want to say I am out of line...if you haven't been affected or don't see the big picture, it's because you have been puttering along without coming up against the bottom line forces.
Countries that are making advances, are looking at Free Trade, Innovative Business, bringing in new Business Entities, becoming transparent and punishing corruption, supporting Partnering with free business (not certain restrictive elitist Asian Business that just want the resources because they have none).
Oh...never mind...
