No worries, Zach. My husband and I spent a glorious week at Pelican Reef in January, our first trip to Ambergris Caye, and I was never concerned for my safety at the resort or anywhere on the island.

You will love the resort, it is comfortable and quiet, the service is fabulous and you will want for nothing. As others have recommended, I also would suggest taking a Tropic Air flight instead of the water taxi, as well as renting a golf cart; contact Pelican Reef and they will can set up both for you. After reading all of this I hope you have decided to fly. It is the only way to go ! For the ladies who don't like the small planes, tell them to close their eyes. The flight is only 10 minutes !

Flying to the island is by far the best. I have done both water taxi and flight.

The flight is only about 15 minutes and views are amazing to say the very least--especially from the co-pilot seat.

Seeing the island for the first time from the air is nothing short of spectacular.

I am certain that others will agree with my opinion.

My tip would be don't take the water taxi, the flight to AC is quicker and absolutly beautiful.

I agree. Take Air Tropic. If you knew me you wouldn't believe that came out of my mouth! I was sooooo scared, but actually enjoyed those flights more than the big planes! The flight was very short and wee didn't get very high!!!!! Lol The water taxis can be the pits if it is raining or really windy or really packed!!! Trust me ..... We stayed 8 miles north of town and had to use one when we went anywhere.

I agree with everyone the flight is great especially after a long day of travel, much easier than boat.
