In our case it was a matter of this... Our original visit to San Pedro was on the cheap. We stayed at a pretty nice hotel on the beach for about $xx a night. The time share was not in the middle of town (a plus for the mother-in-law), had a pretty good dive shop & shop owner reputation, and was going to cost us about the same as we paid during the sale at our original stay. The resort picked us up for free and had kitchen facilities for use while we were out there. Also, a restaurant that was not bad. Mexico Rocks being right in front was also appealing. The time of year was pretty open and worked well with our preferred time of travel.

Since my husband and I are not really picky about accommodations, love to dive, and look for bargains so that we can spend more time there; it became a matter of pay now or pay later. We actually recooped most of our money prior to the change. We are still looking to do something with the time share but won't really lose much if we are stuck with it.

I should add that we have since tried to get the same rate at that hotel but they were not open to it even during the off season. Even with the crappy economy we have not been able to find a comparable place for the price.

There are a few months of the year you could consider Canada. Where in Canada is your timeshare?

What I meant is there are some fabulous and beautiful places to visit in Canada, and even if Doglady doesn't want to go there, she may still find someone that is willing to take her time for her and help recoop that way. Also, help towards dive vacations for her and hers.

Banff! My folks raved about it...and they have been on two round the world trips in their lifetime. They thought it was over the top fabulous and raved about the food.

Very popular area. Used to vacation there annually for many many years, meant to move there at one time. I'll send you a pm, so that you can reply to me privately with name and place details. Thanks!
