You can see a web cam shot at www.sanpedroweather.comThe sea is rougher. Waves over the reef are creating a bit of surf. The storm surge is piling up a little. Not much wind or rain although we have an ocassional torrential downpour. It is cloudy and around 80 degrees fahrenheit.

Hi Tropicguy.....I just took a break from working and saw your post....It is not very windy, however it has been raining almost non-stop since about 9a this morning.....Our beach side windows are boarded up and we are just waiting.....We are in the Holiday Lands area about 3 miles South of town.

Because it's tracking north of AC, that would bring a storm surge from the backside, right?
I'm happier than a pig in s__t...a foot on the sand...and a Belikin in my hand!

Probably both sides will see the storm surge. High tide could be interesting.

Aha, our local met specialist has referred to the current sea action as being the "wave train" that is being powered by the hurricane.
Shelters on the island will be opened from 2pm to 6pm. Curfew will be from 10pm to 10 am. Alcohol sales have ceased. All boats and aircraft have ceased operations. The harbour is closed. Refrain from swimming and wading. We should expect the weather conditions to worsen from 6pm til around 6am.
Ernesto has reached Hurricane status with winds of 80MPH. Some strengthening is expected before landfall.
Track of the center of the storm is still about 40 miles north of us. Tropical storm force winds extend out 140 miles from the center. Time of arrival still somewhat after midnight tonight.
Harbour is closed. Boats are to stop running completely. Local airlines have stopped flights.
Shelters for needy people will open at 2 PM.
NEMO will present a briefing at 1 pm on Reef TV - channel 20 on Coral Cable. Will send further updates if this conference presents any new info.

Because it's tracking north of AC, that would bring a storm surge from the backside, right? The stronger surge (and winds) will be on the north side of the eye wall. There will still be surge south of it though.
