How do they figure that is a 1 day 9 hour trip?

55 MPH, driving non-stop for 33 hours ......
Assume they are planning on pit-stops and stretches of road where they can hit higher speeds to make up for those stops?
Driving through the night in unfamiliar territory doesn't strike me as a wise choice however.

I made a very similar trip that took 2 1/2 days always stopping before sunset but moving again an hour or two before sunrise. Average speed (including stops) was something like 40-45 MPH due to heavy construction along a significant portion of the route at the time.

This route isn't 100% accurate and doesn't take advantage of the "new" extensions of the toll roads which many report as being safer.

Not to mention the fact that you couldn't pay me enough money to drive through that much of Mexico these days. I take that back, I'd do it for $500,000. I'd have to buy an armored vehicle and have enough to buy a huge life insurance policy for my family.

My husband just did it in a big truck, hauling a flatbed. he was in a convoy with some other people hauling stuff to Belize. It took them about 3 days from Texas border to Belize. He's gonna do it again.
