I could not have said it better. As a resident past Mata Chica, the recent degradation of the road is the worst in many years. Anyone who thinks the dump trucks are not wreaking the roads is an idiot.
They are just cheap SOB's not willing to pay for the barge.
The road should be maintained for golf carts and bikes.
Let the water taxis and work boats handle the rest. We did just fine for years until the trucks started messing things up.

We're also HUGE proponents of the water taxi's, barges and work boats. When we had our wood delivered, we hired a private boat operator deliver it to us. The path should be for carts and bikes only. Plenty of places have been built having their products delivered by boat/barge, and that should continue, period!

Rode our bikes on it today for the first time in awhile to avoid the wind and high tide. Smooth! Getting a bit dusty, though. In a few places, folks were hosing it down to keep the dust at bay.
