Received the supporting paperwork for my acceptance in to the QRP yesterday. A section within it states: "you are not allowed to seek employment in the country. However, voluntary work and business investments are encouraged."

No distinctions regarding voluntary (no payment received) work.

Glad to hear that QRP status does allow volunteering (I was questioning my decision to move to AC). I'm semi-retired now, and my days are filled with volunteer work - kids and animals. Looking forward to moving to AC - the sooner the better.

One great thing is, you can come down with the QRP and get the benefit of the program and your spouse can still work if he/she wants to.

Does the $2K per month apply when you are out of country?

Although it states that you need a $2,000 USD income the truth is they make you provide them with copies of your Belize Bank statements PROVING you SPENT $2,000 here.

With all due respect that is not true. You must show you have brought that much money in over the course of a year but you do not have to spend it. I have been in this program for several years and I have found the BTB to be easy to deal with if sometimes a little slow on things.

I am not in the program as I decided against it after being accepted because of this requirement. My friends who give them their bank statement, an easy way to handle it, is to prove that they have brought in the required $2000/month and has nothing to do with spending. And yes, as capt. stated it is 2k/month whether you are in Belize or not.

I am a PR here in Belize, have been over 10 years.

Leave your stuff back in the US/Canada/?, sell it, give it away.

You will not use most of it here.

I do not need to report the the GOB annually.

I can work or volunteer anywhere I want.

I am free.
