Can someone clarify the amount of US cash allowed (or declared) to exit the country of Belize. I do know that $10K is allowed upon entry, but for some reason I recall that someone was fined recently.....

So, my question is: "$10K BZE currency equivalent or $10K US"? THANKS!

They were incoming and were fined because they didn't declare the excess. You need a permit from the Central Bank to take out more than $200US if I recall correctly.

Its 10k BZE equivalent you are allowed to take out of the country (physically carry it) without declaring. Its 250 U.S. you are allowed to get from the bank in exchange for BZE dollars if you have plane tickets going abroad, that is, without a permit from Central Bank. It takes about a week to get a permit from Central Bank for amounts you want to exchange above 250 U.S.
