We are going to Belize for the first time in June. There are five of us going, two couples and one teen. We are looking at several places and are wondering if any of you have stayed at any of them and what you think. They are Paradise Villas, Xanadu, Tranquility House, Caribbean Villas, The Palms and Casa Caracol.

It looks like the most economical way is to get one place for all of us, as in a two bedroom. Any ideas on these places? We like the Xanadu because of the unique look of it and they have bikes and kayaks for the guests to use. Paradise Villas is less but looks like a big place and is maybe (??) closer to town than we want to be. We don't want to be miles away but like to be somewhat out farther. Any ideas?

Xanadu is very nice. The Villas at Banyan Bay would also be a great choice.

I agree that Banyan Bay is excellent for families or two couples, as the units are large (about 1,000 sq. ft.) and have two bedrooms and two baths, plus kitchen and living area. Really nice.

Xanadu is nice, too, though the units are smaller (the second bed is in a loft), but it's less expensive than Banyan Bay. The Palms is excellent, but it is right at the edge of town which may be a factor if you want to be away from town, and Caribbean Villas is well-run and in beautiful setting, though it doesn't have a pool.

Paradise Villas' two bedroom units to me are on the small side.

You might also look at Gaz Cooper's Playa Blanca on North Ambergris -- it has large condo suites.

Paradise Villas are in a great location right on the north edge of town, quiet and a very nice garden setting right on the water. Email me at Tradewinds@btl.net and I'll get you some more info.

The Palms is a GREAT place. We like the 3rd floor 2-bdrm units for 2 couples because the master is down and the second bedroom and bath is in a loft (with a door)upstairs so each couple has maximum privacy. The couch, of course, makes into a bed. Unless you want lots of seclusion you'll want to be within walking distance of town and The Palms is perfect for that. It's next door to Ramon's which has the nicest beach area. The rooms are also nicely decorated and the grocery store is a short walk down the road. Check out The Palms new website.

The Palms is a great place! We stayed at Sunbreeze and our friends stayed at the Palms. Great location and very nice accomodations with a beautiful view for the price.
