Thanks all. Sounds like this may be worth it if we plan to sightsee along the way and have at least 2 weeks to spend on vacation.

The cost savings sound appealing -- at first.

No Otter, it aint worth it. Just the ADO to Playa was long. Not looking forward to tomorrows 4 hour saga. Hope the boat is a smooth ride.

It all depends on what's important to you. I've done it twice and would do it again. My brother and his family saved a bundle of money and layover time coming from Minnesota. My daughter has done it a couple of times from LA.
Do you want to sit in an airport for hours on a lay over or ride along interesting country side in a comfortable bus? I enjoyed the scenery. I am also fond of staying in hostels and they cost very little and you meet the most interesting people.
My daughter and I purposely stayed two nights in Playa and loved every minute of it.
I have to ask you who are coming here to relax - what's your hurry? Relax and enjoy the ride.

If you are traveler, not a tourist especially not an American tourist.........Take your time and enjoy the trip............who's is in a rush..............slow down breathe some air.....it is a great trip and take the money you save on air fare and enjoy it.

Well, I am a traveler and/or an American tourist whereever I go outside my country. Why would I want to go to all that trouble?
