"freezes" with respect to Canada has many connotations wink

Or perhaps McDonalds expected the recruits to actually work 40 hrs a week?

McDonald's Canada is putting its temporary foreign workers program on hold while a third party conducts an audit on its use of the plan.

Best for Canada to re-think the idea of importing workforce from Belize....

I know, Diane-not nice, but you know I speak the truth!

I agree with Dianne. She speaks the truth.

Our staff puts in 45+ hours of hard work a week and do a damn good job at it. We have no problems finding volunteers for extra hours.

Thanks Simon for chiming in with a positive and real experience. We have a work-force of over 50 men right now - I invite readers to come to the jobsite to see diligent, hardworking men doing heavy lifting in the heat all day long. And many ask for more hours, even taking on extra tasks on Sundays.
Some caveats - they won't work if they are disrespected, and they do want to be happy/enjoy when on the job. The crew is proud of what they do, and they don't tolerate slackers. When you come to the site you will hear a lot of laughter and music and will encounter people worthy of enormous respect.
Are attitudes and customs different than in North America - for sure. If you don't understand these customs and realities well enough to hire the right individuals and if you don't have innate management skills, you may indeed end up with less than fabulous employees.
