Hello B4B....When we found Belize and "really wanted to live here" we made a plan and made it happen..(5 years in the making).....We no longer have any stuff (houses, cars, furniture) in the US. We packed our container at our home near Sacramento California and 6 weeks later we unpacked at our home in San Pedro....We have not looked back.....Feel free to send me a note about details. However, the door to door shipping was handled by Crown International Shipping. Our container was accepted at the Port Of Belize by Belize Custom Brokers Ernesto Perrera. His company then forwarded it to our home on the island. All arrived safe & sound including our wine coolers and a very small wine collection.....However, we did pay duty on all items.... Hope this helps.....

Wow, when we moved here 10 years ago, we sent a 20ft container from door to door and had NO duty to pay. England to Belize took about 6 weeks as well.

Hi Jeff. Would you please send me contact info on the individual from Belmopan you used to drive your truck up? My wife is disabled, and we have a lift on the rear of our truck to facilitate transport of her power wheel chair, so we would like to keep our current truck when we move to Belize. We would be coming from San Antonio, TX. My email is ralphp652@yahoo.com

Thank you everyone for the many suggestions and guidance for our move. We will be arriving tomorrow to spend two weeks enjoying lobster Fest and wrapping up a few loose ends prior to our move.

SimonB - did you finish reading the book yet? Curious as to your review......

Please don't think someone who said they paid no duty ten years ago is relevant today!

We moved back last year and had 3 large box's shipped from England. I declared everything and wanted to pay the BZ$220.00 duty. Customs would not let me pay the duty, they charged me BZ$120.00 duty and $200.00 for other fees I can not say on this board, but you all know what I mean.

If you go to this link you will see I only had to pay 9% Tax, I tried and tried to tell customs about this charge, but the ones on the ground make their own rules up.

Yes, Inplub, I have come to the conclusion that most of the govt regulations are clear as mud and rarely enforced as written.....especially in customs. Just one of the head shaking, laughable quirks to living in Belize. Thank you for sharing the link.

Glad I didn't rush to read the book....I will get to it eventually. smile

Belize bound tomorrow! YAY!
