Hi All,

Reef Village, now known as Barrier Reef Resort has not refunded my security deposit. It's been 3 months since I left Belize and all they done is give me fake promises. It is always "tomorrow" and "soon".
At first they blamed Belize banks, I then offered them to use any online wallet or paypal or western union, to which they agreed to, but I am yet to receive my security deposit.

I also e-mailed to Belize Tourism Board.

I still have my lease agreement with me and all the e-mail exchanges where they promise to refund my security deposit

Any other ideas what I could do, to raise awareness of this problem and possibly get my security deposit refunded?

Thanks!
Ragnar

NOTICE TO ALL - "Residences at Barrier Reef", a condo project 3.5 miles north of San Pedro has no affiliation whatsoever with the Reef Village units that recently re-opened under the name "Barrier Reef Resort".

I hope you get your money back and I hope one day you will visit us at The Residences (when we're done and ready to rent) ...... we'll do our best to make up for your poor experience elsewhere.

Hi Ragnar did you rent from Charjam, the only property manager with the license authorized to rent at Barrier Reef Resorts?
If so I am sure that you will get your deposit back. If not the only recourse you will have is to go after the illegal rental agent that you rented from.
As per the BTB the only authorized and licensed agent for Barrier Reef Resort is Charjam LTD.

Yes, Reef Village is now called Barrier Reef Resort.
I do not know what exactly is going on right now, but supposedly Lisa ( the manager) left and went back to UK. She told me it was because her father got sick, but who actually knows. At this point she is just ignoring me.
When I arrived in San Pedro last October, I remember her telling me that they had just taken over the Reef Village. Shortly after that a couple of security guys left and when I saw one of them later in town, he told me that the new manager did not want to pay him. (He was a very nice person too so I tend to believe him)

A month later the pool was closed, because a pump or something broke and it never got fixed. ( I stayed there for another 6 months). When I asked about the pool situation Lisa just told me that that it was out of their control, because pool belonged to somebody else and if I didn't like the situation I could basically F off and leave. Polite excuse would have been enough - I did not care that much about the pool anyway. I did however feel sorry about people who came there for short vacations and expected a pool. ( They kept advertising the pool )

Even if you check out the tripadvisor reviews for Reef Village they have a lot in common - mostly warning about the management and false advertising.
