Many single people here are very satisfied with their lifestyle. Many of us read a lot and exchange books and then discuss them. This island attracts adventurers so we have had very interesting pasts and love exchanging stories - most of them true.

You will not find us hanging out in a bar. We do stop off at some of the local ones now and then for a cold one (make mine ginger ale). There are bars where the same people congregate every day - enough said.

There are more than a few of us who don't drink alcohol and many more who drink only occasionally. To me, personally, drunks are boring but they seem to enjoy each other.

Restaurants are also good places to meet people. Chatting over food is socially acceptable and since I go out alone most of the time (when I do go out) I often find myself inviting someone at a nearby table to join me or I am invited to join them.

My caretaker, who is native Belizean, takes my puppy dog every Sunday (his day off) and goes to the park or beach. The dog is his girl magnet!

This is a very friendly place - come on down.

Hi everyone!

Thanks Diane, Simon, Amanda and Scubalady for contributing. Sometimes it's good to get a good debate going. That way the discussion opens up more and the truth comes out, if only by reading between the lines. However, from what I'm ascertaining, there are a reasonable number of single people male and female living on Ambergris and plenty of things to do without being part of a couple. Learning piloting a boat and maybe scuba diving could be possible new activities. It's also good to know that single people are welcomed at a restaurant and not shunned like lepers for failing to belong to 'Couples Club'.

I'm hoping to get out there in a few months time - maybe around November. Maybe I'll bump into a single female with a light complexion (with or ..) without blonde hair! Who says blondes have all the fun!!

Cheers,

Gary

I've been blessed with a man who can tolerate me.....And therefore after 20+ years of marriage consider myself a couple, or part of.....However, before we moved here I visited the island often and found lots of fun things to do on my own....Yes of course tours, Scuba, Snorkeling....However, I also found Friday Night Bingo at the Lion's Den (they have a bar) and the Ice Cream shop is across the street....There's walking the dogs at SAGA, the SAGA dinner fundraisers, the Neighborhood Watch events, Thursday Splash N Paint, a bunch of fun Poker Runs, Water aerobics, Tuesday Trivia, Dart tournaments, Park events, Sunday Fundays, the parades, the festivals, the food, the movie theater premiers and did I mention food? LOTS! .....I've never been for a lack of things to do here....With or without a pal.....And through it all I've met some great people and have some awesome friends smile
