I will be bringing my family to Ambergris Caye in November for a 3 month stay. I will be spending most of those 3 months on an airplane so I am looking for something close to the airport. I am starting my search now because I'm sure things will fill up quickly as time passes. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. It has been difficult to find anything for the length of time that we will be there.

Long term by regulation is a minimum of 6 months. For stays shorter than that the owner must have a hotel license which is why you are finding it so difficult. You are also asking for peak season. You may need to rent for 6 months which will cost you double your 3 month stay but not quadruple like a weekly rate.

That makes perfect sense. Thank you Richard. Is Reef Village ok or not? I have read some not so favorable reviews. Also looks to be a bit further from the airport.

How many in your family? What kind of accommodation do you need? Near schools? And, unless you are way north or way south, the airport is close.

My wife, myself and our 6 year old son. My wife will homeschool so the distance from schools is not important. We would ideally want a two bedroom but we could make a one bedroom with a pullout bed on the couch work. You know 6 year old boys; they are happy on the floor most of the time.

We would definitely want a kitchen so that we could eat at home. Other than that, we're easy to please.
