Hello all, long time no see but I'll bet this is still the place for the best answers.

I'm considering a trip to Belize that will surround the requirement that I be in Cancun area for 5 days. I'm wondering how far in advance you recommend that seats be reserved. It's not flexible.

Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks!

If it's not flexible.... now seems like the right time!

Sorry, I didn't explain well. The bookend part of the trip may not end up being Belize. That's why I'm still hesitating and that's why I want to know best guess for latest time to book and still be assured seats. If everything for the trip was already set in stone, you're right, I'd just reserve now. Anyone else have any idea or experience in this regard? Thanks again.

Thanks Simon. Of course, I can do that and will but I was hoping for an unbiased answer. If no one on the Message Board has any experience with this that's fine. I figured it wouldn't hurt to seek an answer from non-Tropic personnel.

I asked someone from Tropic about your 'hypothetical' situation and there is no easy answer for the latest booking possible. If there are no bookings at all 24 to 48 hours before an international flight, they can be cancelled. If that were the case, they said it would be very, very rare for the flight to be rescheduled for last minute passengers. On the opposite side of the coin, Tropic has had flights that are fully booked a month or more in advance and, since they use their largest planes on international routes, there is no capacity to seat additional passengers. ...and they don't ever overbook. The aisles are too narrow to haul extra people off the plane.

LOL, Hon!

In any event, I booked days ago but now I'm fearful that I may be the only passenger that day and that they'll cancel the flight anyway. This was something that had not occurred to me. Oh bother! frown

If you're booked at least 24 hrs prior to travel, Tropic will fly, even with 1 pax
