Hi guys... I'm new here.

I've been to Ambergris quite a few times but that was quite a while ago... I'm planning on going again in a couple of weeks and I'm looking for a nice full service marina with hotel. This would be only my second time there in my own boat and on 2002 I stayed at the Yacht Club but I understand it closed. The boat is a 43' motor yacht and draws 4'.

I'd appreciate your help!!.

Yacht Club was it I'm afraid. I'm not Mr Boating but I dont think you have any other options here. Simon will probably tune in with the most knowledgeable advice but in the interim try contacting Amigo's del Mar. They have a large dock and have slips and maybe would do something short term if they have space.

The Yacht Club is now Isla Bonita Yacht Club, I believe they may have some free slips at the moment. http://www.islabonitayachtclub.com/ If not there then Placencia is your best bet at Robert's Grove http://www.robertsgrove.com/amenities/marina

Yes we've been to Placencia and always Robert's Grove, the hurricane almost a year ago we spent it there but this year we want to go up to San Pedro, will try Isla Bonita, Thanks!!

A vessel about that size who had to draw 4' tied up to the end of Grande Caribe's dock about 4 years ago while they stayed there for a few days. Couldn't have been much water under the keel. I think I watched her leave and of course she stirred up a lot of sand. Their dock is very close to the channel such as it is.

There was a local Belizean who took care of the docks but I just can't remember his name, he would know. They are sponsoring an off shore fishing tournament and are the only official weigh station in Belize so someone must have that info. Give them a call or send an email. Good luck.

We live here, but our boat also requires 4'...... it's kept at Amigo del Mar- best marina on the island, not only because of the water depth, but also for the fact they have full service included in your slip rent (water, elec. & 24hr security) very convenient in town, and if you choose, Mayan Princess Hotel is within eyesight of the marina/ we searched several other locations, no other places on the island will have these amenities.

I was thinking about my suggestion on using Grande Caribe's dock, and that would only be good, if there is enough water, for a short stay. The vessel that tied up there that I mentioned had to have at least on anchor to hold him off the dock. The channel being right there also means a lot of traffic going by fairly close. There would only be room I believe for one vessel of that size because there certainly isn't enough of water except at the end of the dock unless something has changed.

Their dock is at sort of a point of land so even small vessels go by fairly close, cutting the corner so to speak.

Hope that clarification helps.

Thank you guys... its been sorted out and we'll dock at Isla Bonita. We won't have electricity but we'll be at the same hotel that the rest of our group will be staying. Thanks for your input!!!!
