Sorry to hear about these burglaries. I hate darned thieves.
Amanda there is reasonable suspicion against one known individual whom I am told has a history of mental illness.
He burgled our place last year, was caught on CCTV, despite this and because of his mental issues, the Police
resolve was to send him off island rather than prosecute. His MO is particularly unusual and it was used on both these occasions.
The police also recovered property of mine from a burglary last year when they searched a nearby house. Persons were arrested as a result,
those persons were never charged and I never received the property back.
I have been told the burglar is back on the island. The Police seem uninterested in pursuing this.
He was known to be responsible for 11 burglaries last year.
As I am not on the island I have no way of checking the information.
Either way it does not seem to be being viewed as a serious problem. My impression is 'Just another Gringo thats had stuff stolen'
I have guests coming next week, I will have to warn them about whats happened.
