Ambergris Caye Braces For Extreme Water Shortages During Peak Easter Break

Water shortages before and during the Easter break is nothing new to island residents, but it is something that is recurring more often and island residents are pretty much fed up with the water utility company.

Ambergris Today contacted The Belize Water Services Limited San Pedro Branch and was told that today, Tuesday, March 27, 2018, the water pressure through the island will be at its lowest and that for the rest of the month (Easter Week) the pressure will be low because of the high demand of water during the Easter Break and because they have to be doing maintenance work on the pumping station.

Belize Water Services informs customers in San Pedro that there will be intermittent interruptions in the water supply today, Tuesday, March 27, 2018, starting at 1:00pm. The entire San Pedro Water Distribution System will be affected.

These intermittent interruptions are the results of ongoing works at the Pumping Station. Customers may experience low water pressure and/or discoloration when water is restored.

Residents of these areas in San Pedro are advised that water supply should return to normal by 4:00pm.

Belize Water Services informs customers in San Pedro that there will be intermittent interruptions in the water supply today, Thursday, March 29, 2018, starting at 1:00pm. The entire San Pedro Water Distribution System will be affected.

These intermittent interruptions are the results of ongoing works at the Pumping Station. Customers may experience low water pressure and/or discoloration when water is restored.

Residents of these areas in San Pedro are advised that water supply should return to normal by 6:00pm. If they experience water supply problems after that time, they should immediately call BWS' hotline at 0-800-CALL-BWS (0-800-225-5297) to report it.

Residents of these areas in San Pedro are advised that water supply should return to normal by 5:00pm. If they experience water supply problems after that time, they should immediately call BWS' hotline at 0-800-CALL-BWS (0-800-225-5297) to report it.

You never miss the water til the well runs dry. Bummer.

Water went off at 6pm and not 11pm it is NO joke trying to run a restaurant with no water lucky we have a back up.

Inplub, we feel your pain..... We had prepared our ice machine for the outage at 11p, instead we had to use our emergency water during dinner service..... However, our Doctor reminded me last week by saying, 'but don't we live in Paradise'..... Of course she is right.... Most days are better than worse...... This low pressure is the result of ongoing works at the Pumping Station. Customers may experience discoloration when water is restored.
