Fuel Prices are sky high and everyone's feeling the pinch, from households to commercial transport outfits. And, now, Belize's biggest airline, Tropic Air says it has to do something about it. Today, President John Greif told us Tropic's fares are going to increase with a fuel surcharge:...

John Greif, President Tropic Air
"We have to put on sur charges soon as early as two weeks from now. We had an excellent year last year we had a 2% profit margin for all the capital investment we have, it just don't make any sense, so we can't stand any more increase in fuel prices. We don't have any choices."

Maya Island Air might be forced to do the same. This is expected to have a domino effect across the tourism sector - making travel to Belize more expensive.

In a release sent out three days ago, government said it has not increased fuel taxes since April 2017 and, added, quote, "World oil prices are reducing and Belizeans can expect to see a decrease in pump prices with the next shipment which is due by the end of next week."
