Repair of the Supreme Court historic clock
The Supreme Court clock stopped working at twenty nine minutes pass four o'clock on some day in the past. Time seems to have stopped for the clock at that time while the rest of the world's time continued. The old clock will soon come alive once again. One of the projects the Downtown Rejuvenation Project has taken on as one of our many projects is the repair of the Supreme Court historic clock. It has been inoperational for some time now and we need to make it operational once again. It will be an expensive venture. Most of the parts have become corroded. One of the main component also went missing over the years. That part was so old that they don't make them anymore, so we will have to improvise. Also, the structure that the cupola sits on has also corroded and will need to be replaced. The sea is beautiful, but it is also merciless on metal. Since we will only be able to work on it on weekends, it will take a while to complete. Estimated time is six to twelve weeks.

San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade and Best Pupusas in Town
I love that the SPHBP really pushed charities to get involved more. Over the years I was lucky enough to participate on two boats that way. This year I was just happy to highlight two great charities among the few that participated. Best Charity Boat ($2,000): Belize Tourism Industry Association San Pedro Chapter Boat: SeaStar Belize & The Dive Bar Sponsor: The Truck Stop Santa putting trash in the can and Captain Conch was a great effort at making education festive and fun. You saw the other side of this boat in my featured image above. As for the best pupusas, Pupuseria El Salvadoreño on Middle Street wins hands down against Waruguma for me. Why? Because they let you get three ingredients in them versus two. My favorite is spinach, cheese, and squash - so gooey and yummy. A few friends and I ended up there after the parade. Kay, Rosemary, and Emily all agree.

Placencia Diving Hotspots
The coastal village of Placencia, located in the South of Belize, is a destination to consider for your marine adventures. This sandy peninsula, with a laid back ambiance, makes for the perfect base for marine excursions. You can check into one of the many beachfront properties like Turtle Inn or Umaya Resort and spend your days exploring the vibrant life of the Belize Barrier Reef. There are pristine offshore islands and cayes not too far from the coastline making for an incredible day out. Laughing Bird Caye and the Silk Cayes Marine Reserve, are the two most popular inner reef hotspots for diving and snorkeling to be considered when down South.

Is Belize Safe?
As Belize grows as a popular spot for vacation and retirement, it makes sense that people might be concerned about how safe it is to live there. The short answer to this question is "Yes!" Belize is one of the safest countries in the world. When tourism is one of your country's biggest industries, it makes sense that the safety of visitors would be a high priority; any outrageous stories of horrible violence tend to be greatly exaggerated due to how infrequently it occurs, especially stories beyond Belize City.
