On Tuesday's news, we brought you an update on the Plastic Ban reporting that there had been no adjustment to the timeline. But that was before a Cabinet intervention. It's a reversal of what had seemed an environmental triumph and a move that gives a bit of cushion to manufacturers who may not have been able to take another hit.

Late Tuesday evening Cabinet granted approval for the extension of the timeframe, meaning that manufacture of single-use plastics did not cease on July 15th, 2020 but will now continue until January 15, 2021.

There has, however, been no adjustment to the date prohibiting the importation of single-use plastics, which was April 15, 2020, and is now passed.

The sale and possession of single-use plastics will also become prohibited by January 14th, 2021.
