Today Chargé d'Affaires Leyla Moses-Ones handed over the keys to four brand-new, all-terrain Ford Ranger pickup trucks to the Belize Joint Intelligence Operations Centre (JIOC). The United States Government donated these vehicles through the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Foreign Military Financing platform. These high-performance vehicles will support our shared goal of helping Belize's security personnel disrupt, deter, and prosecute transnational organized crime.

The illegal movement of drugs, people, weapons, and other contraband through Belize presents a serious threat to citizen security.

The United States will continue to support the Belizean government in its efforts to counter criminal elements that threaten to dignity of the Jewel and the safety of its people. In the past three years alone, the U.S. Embassy's Security Cooperation Office has contributed over US $3.2 million in security assistance to Belize on behalf of the citizens of the United States.
