Janal Pixán ("soul food" in Mayan) is a tradition of peoples on the Yucatán Peninsula, including north and west Belize. The celebration remembers our deceased in a festive way, full of colour and typical Mayan food.
The belief is that during November 1-9, souls return on pilgrimage from the afterlife to share the table, food, and this earthly plane with us.
