The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center was severely impacted by Hurricane Lisa which passed over Belize on Wednesday November 2nd. Thankfully, our staff, and all the critters, are safe, but, the damage to animals' habitats and our pathways is extensive.

As a result, we remain closed until further notice! We will focus our energy on providing care to our beloved wildlife while we work to restore "the best little zoo in the world."

We are grateful to all our supporters and colleagues who have reached out, and we will be posting regular updates on our progress as we work towards opening our gates once more.

The Belize Zoo and the Tropical Education Centre are hard at work in recovery

Also picking up the pieces in the wake of Hurricane Lisa's passage is the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Centre. The zoo's staff were working throughout the day today to remove debris and fallen vegetation. Dale McDougall found out more about their rebound and when the zoo's doors will be reopened.
