I have been searching dive shops on AC. They all sound really good, but i have two questions:

Which shops have the smallest boats? (I prefer to dive with only 4-8 other divers.)

Also, Which boats have the best shade?

Thanks!

Hey Lakerboy, what are ya doing with my avatar? smile

BTW, I recommend that you check out the shops when you arrive. Not to mention that lots of times, if you are there when it is a less busy time, you could wind up with a smaller group anyway. A couple of years ago, during December but before the Xmas rush, it was just me, another guy and the DM. Veerrrrryyyy Nice.

Amigos has a bunch of boats all different sizes.
Tony (with Amigos) has a smaller boat and he's a great DM.

You could try Ched Cabral. He's got his own boat. It's more of a boutique kind of operation. Sounds like you might like that.

Thanks Seashell. I will definatly check out Ched Cabral. You're right about waiting until you get there to find a shop, but i won't arrive until the evening when I'm sure most of the shops will be closed. And of course, i have to dive the next day...

Hustler tours has small boats also. My wife and I got certified down there in September and it was great. Bill leslie is a good DM and they bend over backwards to accomidate you. It's worth at least checking out!!!

Hi There

We specialize in very small groups of divers and focus on those who want to escape the crowds and benefit from the extra service and personal attention that can be provided when you dont have 20-30-40 divers per day to deal with.

You will note on my website that I am the smallest Dive operation on Ambergris and we like it that way and so do our customers.

We only operate 2 boats with just 6-8 divers max (even in extremely busy periods of the year) per boat
We operate a very small PERSONAL dive resort built for divers and run by divers while it is true you can wait until you arrive to check out many of the operators we only accept pre-bookings due to space availability on our boats, once they are full (ie 6-8 divers) we do not take any other divers.

We do not have the time constraints due to handling volumes of divers so we have plenty of time to keep bottom times long and make sure you dive the best sites available on Ambergris.

Dive safe

Son of a son- Thanks for responding, but I couldn't imagine doing business with someone by the name of hustler tours. When I first saw their name, i truly thought it was a joke. Maybe it's a cultural thing. Does hustle mean something different in the caribbean?

If something were to go wrong and i'm not saying it would, i'm sure they are a great shop, but everyone has their bad days. And if I were displeased in any way, I'd have no one but myself to blame. Anyway, that name confuses me. It doesn't seem like a wise business decision. Just my two cents...

Larry Parkers Reef Divers is #1 in my book for customer service and smaller crowds, enabling more time and less hassle. They also have the most experienced staff. Dive with them, I have for over 40 dives and they have been great, each and every dive!
